The musical tells the story that happened behind the fairy tale 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' and surprises by revealing a whole different side of the Wicked Witch of the West.
The main story is about a blossoming friendship between two young women; Glinda (Gina Beck), who does everything in her power, including nasty tricks, to achieve popularity, and the green-skinned Elphaba (Rachel Tucker) who later becomes the Wicked Witch.
You dip into the musical right away. The most phenomenal thing is how the different scenes flow into each other in a perfectly smooth way: Stunning stage designs change dynamically with the flow of the music and choreography while the audience never takes notice of any scene transitions. The whole stage choreography is in absolute harmony with the music and you can literally see the notes come alive.
The show is full of funny dialoge and acting, especially the character of Glinda, a stereotype of a stupid blonde, who tosses her hair around with an exaggerated flick of her head and keeps you laughing during the entire show. It is simply one of the most entertaining musicals and definitely casts a spell on everyone.
